John Morris is the owner and founder of Morris Fire Investigation, an Arizona based full service fire and explosion investigation company.
John was a Special Agent with ATF for over 26 years, more than half of that time as a fire and explosion investigator, before retiring as a Supervisory Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) in 2015. During his career John was an ATF CFI, Certified Explosive Specialist (CES) as well as a member of ATF’s prestigious National Response Team. Over the course of 26 years he has investigated over 600 fires and explosions. Among the hundreds of fire scenes investigated by John, many included multi-million dollar losses, fires with multiple fatalities and serial arson cases. John was also the lead CFI on the USS MIAMI nuclear submarine fire, a billion dollar loss.
As a CFI for ATF, John routinely assisted local, State, or Federal agencies with origin and cause or arson investigations. In doing so, John also had the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with many insurance and law firm representatives throughout his career and has successfully assisted the insurance industry on numerous occasions.
One of the core tenants of Morris Fire Investigation, is to conduct fire and explosion investigations based on proven fire science and engineering principals, while staying current with continuing education and training. In that philosophy John has been awarded additional fire investigation related certifications in the following areas; IASIU as a Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI); an Electrician Certificate from the State of Maine; and a certification from the Certified Employee Training Program (CETP) as a Propane and Natural Gas Service Technician.
